When you walk past La Dame de Paris, the first thing that catches your eye and your curiosity is its splendid, old-world charm. A luminous blue, adorned with eglomised panels created by Lucien Helle, the only painter-decorator in France today to master this unique art of gold leaf fixed under glass, which was the inspiration for the most beautiful stores in Paris at the beginning of the 20th century.
A technique that dates back thousands of years ( as far as Antiquity), it was brought back into fashion in the 18th century by Jean-Baptiste Glomy, who gave his name to the technique and used it to decorate furniture for Queen Marie-Antoinette.
It was with great excitement that we approached Lucien Helle to create the panels for La Dame de Paris. We are honored that he accepted our proposal, and that today our restaurant perpetuates the magic of this art and adds to the heritage of Parisian facades.
